How to make a successful music video
In order to succeed with this task there are key aspects and features which must be taken into consideration and evident in our video if we want it to look as proffessional as possible.
Music videos are tend to be a visual interpretation of the song which viewers are listening to. In order to reflect the music via our video it is important that everyone in my group are on the same wave length and direction on how we want the outcome of the video to look like, if we have this we will be able to make our video as creative and imaginative as possible knowing that we wont drift off the main topic of the video as we all have the same basic ideas.
Furthermore whilst filming it is imporant that we get alot of coverage of the main perfomance aspects such as the band or the artist that is performing the song itself. This aspect is key of the video is key as it is the base of the video, the video should always refer back to the a variety of shot angles of the performances the artists in the video have to offer. This is important as it makes the artist/band the main focus of the video and not the setttings or characters in the storyline.
Here you can see a member of a rock band in action. This gives the viewers the impression that the song is bubbly and livly.
The other visual feature the main performance should rotate with is the charatcer(s) in the story and the setting. This is also imporant espeacilly if we are trying to tell a story in our video, the veiwers must be able to understand the story and to do so we must display the environment in which our actors/actresses are surrounded by and what themselves are actually doing.
Here you can see and image of the rap artist Lil Wayne. The use of mist in the background and editing transition to black and white potrays an imidiate idea of the video being spooky and dark. The ring around him on the ground is also effective as it dras the veiwers attention to the artist.
Here you can see two people kissing in a storyline in a music video. This sort of video gives viewers ideas that the lyrics could relate to love and romance.
In order to video these two aspects correct and effectively it is important the we record the artist/bands performances and the storyline sepratly otherwise we willl not be able to merge these as effectively as possible when we start editing. These aspects should also be seperated as they will be filmed in different ways. The performances should consist of covering the band/artist in a range of creative ways such as shooting them from different angles, using special effects, change of lighting or camera speed. But whilst shooting the story portion is is key that we have a clear timeline of almost a script of the events which are unyet to unfold in the story. This part should be shot almost like a short film consisting of a begining, middle and end phase. These phrases should have visual relations with the type of music we are making otherwise when putting everything together it will not make much sense.

How to go about picking a music video
In order to create a successful music video for my A2 coursework it is important that i pick the correct music genre and video which will open doors to many ideas my music video could consisit of. There is no piont picking a music video for it being my favioute video or favioute artist. This is because there may be be curtain features in the video i may want to mirror or immate, this could prove to not be good as then the music video will be biased as it will only be enjoying by people with the same taste in music as i am. This will limit my target audience as other people may not understand curtain referations therefore they will just loose intrest in the video. In order to be successful in this course it may be the case that working outside of my comfort zone will be the best way, this is beaucse any genre of music should be taken into consideration as it is not neccerarily about the music i choose but the options of ideas i can come up with for a video, the more ideas the more i should consider choosing the artists regardless of the style of music.

Choose your music (Option 3)
The genre of music i have choosen for my third option is Ska/ Rock. I have choosen this particular song due to some similarity i think it has wtih my other two options but main beacsue it is something different which as this genre of music is completely out o f my comfort zone as Rock music is not particular the genre of music i would listen to in my spare time. I chose to go abit out of ym comfort zone beacuse i realised that in order to successed in making a music video the song i choose does not matter regardless whether it is my favioute genre of music or not as i am being marked on the technicality, variety of shots and ideas behind the video, not necessarliy the music, although choosing a suitable track is important as well . Whilst listening to this track a lumsome of ideas came into mind on how i could make the video as good as possible, the thing that has made this particular track stand out is that others in my new group also like it and we're able to all contribute in ideas and suggestion for our music video will make us more excited and entusiastic about the production because we all have something to offer in my new group, whereas my other options seemed to been more of my liking rather than a group's. The tempo in this track is also good as their is a transtion in pace at certain points in the video making intresting to listen to. I personally don't really listen to Rock as ive already mentioned but i rather like this track as its bubbly, has a good rythm to it and it is something i could work with in this project.
The band in the music video is called Behind bad luck, there music can be found on www.unsignedartists.com, they are currently unsigned which suits the criteria requirement, this means that i will most likely be able to get in contact with him as he would want me and group to promote his music.

Change of group
Because of the lack of commitment with some of my old group members i decided that the most sensible thing for me to do in order to ensure that i do well with this coursework was to move to another group which i felt that is willing to work as hard as i am and is able to contribute towards the task as I felt that I was doing too much of the work load in my old group. This has so far proven to be a good move as there seems to always be new ideas and suggestions towards this task and real process is being made in the lessons and outside of the lesson displaying real commitment. Furthermore individuals in my new group have links to an other student who has previously helped with media coursework and has agreed to also help in the acting aspects of this music video as he is a really good actor. This is good as it has made life easier in assigning individuals to certain roles in this project and is also a step forward in making our video of a good quality. I have also pitched my idea on the song by The Colours- Tonight to my group and they all really like it. We will now compare this idea with others we find and hopefully come to a conclusion as a group on what we want to base our music promo on.

Choose your music (Option 2)
The genre of music i have choosen for my second option is Pop. I have choosen this particular song so some of the same reasons as i did with my first choice. Whilst listening to this track i visioned multiple subjects of ideas i can base my footages on including location, customes and particlaur actors who would fit in these roles. For an example, one of my ideas consisted of an image of a sort of boy band performance with myself and others involved and in it a love/hate relationship storyline between two couples. Regarding the music i also chose this because i enjoyed the tempo to the song. In addition to this i liked the transistions in the tempo from fast to slow as it makes the track more engaging to listen to rather than the same beat throughout whic would be boring. Furthermore Pop is a genre which anyone can relate to as the style of music varieties depending on individual artist style, this make it a more universial genre meaning a larger number of people will find the music engaging and enjoyable.
The band in the music video is called The Colours, there music can be found on www.unsignedartists.com and also on www.YouTube.com, they are currently unsigned which suits the criteria requirement, this means that i will most likely be able to get in contact with him as he would want me and group to promote his music.
Choose your music
The genre of music i have chosen for my music vide is electro-house. I have chosen this music because its gives a lot of ideas on what my video could consist of, the tempo in the track regularly changes which is good as views will not get bored meaning they will continue to watch my video. The lyrics in the track can also easily be memorised as they are very repetitive meaning miming the words in the video will not be a problem. I also chose this music because it is very bubbly and vibrant which will ensure to catch viewers attention and make them dance as it is very lively. In addition to this this style of music is very current as you may find this style on many of the younger audiences playlists. It is also highly popular especially amongst the younger generation as this genre of music is often played in clubs and party occasions meaning this music will not alienate viewers.
The artist of this music is Adrian Lux who is unsigned which suits the criteria requirement, this means that i will most likely be able to get in contact with him as he would want me and group to promote his music.
Finding the right music
To find a suitable music video to use for our A2 coursework we will have to find music produced by an unsigned artist. To be able to use the artist's music we must then write an e-mail asking for permission, when received a confirmation email we are then legally allowed to use the music. To find such videos we will be using websites such as www.youtube.com, www.unsigned.com or www.myspace.com. In order to contact our chosen artist we will use popular social networking sites such as Twitter or Facebook, this is because we will more likely to be able to contact them and get a reply quickly. The E-mail i will send will consist of vital information such as who i am as well as my group members, where am from, age, what school i attend to and the purpose of me wanting to use the video.

Non-Copyright Music
Non-Copyright
Today, however, this is less relevant since most countries are parties to at least one such agreement. These rights are important as it protects the creators work from being used by someone else who wasn't involved in the original production. in addition to this it prevents the loss of profit for the artist who makes the music video. It is important that the copyright laws are not broken as artists take it seriously and if caught a lump-some of fine may have to be paid by the the offender. The copyright laws make create issues for our group as it has limited us with the music videos we can use as we will only be able to use unsigned artists videos. It will be more realistic for us to ask for permission from an unsigned artist as they would be more than welcome for us to use there music as it would be a publicity act for them as it would be getting there music around and heard by more people, the chances of receive a confirmation from a signed artist to uses his/her music is very low as they wouldn't have the time to reply to us if we were to ask.
- Legal concept that gives the creator of product exclusive rights
- No one else can us or reproduce without there permission
- We have to ask for permission if we wish to use another artist's music video

Favourite/Interesting Music Video
This music video is called 'Where them girls at' by David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida. David Guetta was original Dj in the 1980's and 90's where he mostly played in his home country France. He made a transaction into the pop industry in 2004 with a single Delirious featuring Tara McDonald, he had then made serval single and collaboration with many other hip hop/pop, RnB artist such as Flo Rida, Akon, Jessie J and many more.
I chose this music video because it is interesting with some good use of special effects making it more eye catching. The video is also different compared to other to Hip-Hop videos as they mostly consist of routined dancers. In addition to this the concept of the video corresponds to the actual lyrics unlike many other music videos where the audience becomes lost in understanding the actual meaning to artists lyrics due to the over complexity or a video which is simply not related to the lyrics.
The music is also very current and appealing to the younger generation as it very vibrate and bubbly. As you can see in the background of the video there literally are 'bubbles' emphasising the idea of the video being vibrate and something you can dance to. This music video also consists of intriguing special affects as the 'music' causes the people in the video to dance in an extraordinary was, this contributes in making the video look interesting and also correspond with the theme of the music as the vibrate and pumping music causes these people to move as if they had been possessed. This encourages viewers to also want to dance along to the video.
